If you've been keeping up with Crimson Desert — the open world action game from Korean developer Pearl Abyss — you may remember seeing a bunch of gameplay videos a few months back.
There were boss fights, and then there was a crazy 50-minute walkthrough. It's fair to say that the project's been wowing audiences for quite some time.
And now we've been given another gameplay demonstration: a seven-minute boss battle against some kind of powerful sorceress. The game still looks impressive and packed with potential — and the fact that we've now seen so much of it suggests that Pearl Abyss is very confident in its creation.
Crimson Desert doesn't have a confirmed release date, but rumours suggest that it'll be shown off at The Game Awards next week. We could certainly see it locking down a date there and then.
What do you make of Crimson Desert? Is this going to be one to watch in 2025? Keep your shield raised in the comments section below.

2025 is going to be an all time year for releases. Maybe just pushing in to 2026 for some.
I still find a scripted boss fight to be a deceiving way to showcase an open world game, so i will withhold judgement. It looks good, but will it hold up on a non scripted open world traversal and gameplay loop for dozens of hours? Not sure.
This game looks pure fun.....if it delivers what it promises
I've heatd martial law's in it 😉
Trying my hardest to avoid footage of this game but I cant help it
That looks entirely pleasing. We shall iron out the nuances strike up a deal
Let's just hope that it's actually what's been shown. I'm cautiously optimistic about this one.
@Nem you should go peep that hour long gameplay. Game actually does look incredible lol
Enjoyed the video a lot! I am very much excited for the game. Although I must be blind or too focused, because I didn't pay attention to a red vignette or effect on the screen whenever Kliff got hit.
What is interesting however, is that in the comments one person analyzed footage of the game from conventions and made a list of inputs and their respective action that they noticed.
I don't know how to put images in comments like I've seen others do so I can't directly share it unfortunately.
@Nem i wouldn't say it's scripted. All 5 bosses, including Hexe Marie have been playable publicly at Gamescom and G-Star events. This is why bosses have been the focus as thats whats feasibly playable in a 20 minute session. You can even find off screen footage of all the boss fights on youtube. There's also the 50 minute gameplay video that shows the open world.
@Triadobatrachus I mean it's a big set piece boss. Not representative of most of the game where you will be running around and killing grunts.
But we'll see. I was burned too many times by open world games to be anything but cynical about them.
I have seen the 50m gameplay and that is the exact impression i got from it. Which is why i am not surprised they are showing boss fights. It's more exciting
But, you know. Don't want to say before release and we know for sure. But, i can tell that these fights aren't the game. Probably 1% of it, like every open world games. Most of the time is passed traveling from A to B with lots of repetitive menial tasks and it's usually super boring.
The witcher 3 was the only decent one cause it mostly relied on big cinematic side quest chains. The traveling was still a chore though.
Anyways, i'm rambling. Open world games are boring. I don't get excited.
Noone in their right mind can say "this game looks crazy". It could easliy be 10 years old graphic wise. Not in the same ballpark as for instance horizon games, gow, or even elden ring. What are you smoking?
My most anticipated game of 2025. I'm hoping for an early in the year release date.
I'm just hoping it plays better than Black Desert which looked beautiful, but turned out, gameplay-wise, to be a pile of poo.
Looks great, but (and this relates to the 50 minute clip) please stop it with the trees and bushes shaking in a non existent wind, it ruins the immersion for me totally. Nit picking i know!!!
